Our Equine and Art therapy program embraces all learning styles and can be adapted to suit the unique skills and insights of individuals. It helps people identify and build on their strengths in a supported and nature-based environment and can provide a range of benefits including emotional regulation, empathy, awareness of energy, boundaries, active listening, body-mind integration, balance, core strength, confidence, communication skills, and behavioural regulation and general fitness.
This type of horse interaction is regarded worldwide for its parallels with mindfulness practices.
Sessions can support people experiencing learning difficulties, those with social and emotional challenges and or challenging behaviours. We see many children and adults diagnosed as ASD, ADHD or with other challenges.
We are inclusive and support people with all sorts of disabilities.
Yes we support many clients through the NDIS who are plan managed or self managed.
Yes we see private clients. We have seen clients with funding support from a large variety of support services (government, not for profit etc).
Our therapists are trained in a variety of modalities so we adopt a person-centred approach to therapy where the client has an input into sessions. We drawn from a range of approaches including equine, art, nature/eco and horticulture therapy to adapt to each client, offer variety and engagement in sessions.
Boots – Closed toe sturdy shoes are necessary.
Clothing – Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Come prepared for changes in the weather. We provide sessions undercover but in cooler weather, warm jackets are necessary. Please be prepared with sun hat and sun protection in warmer months. Our arena is undercover but we may move about the property also.
We have a portaloo toilet onsite. We have a disability accessible toilet.
Parking – is available and well signed off main driveway. There is no cost.
Sessions will be 50 mins in duration.
Cancellations require 48 hours’ notice.
Yes! We have a wonderful undercover arena and an indoor barn area with fireplace. We are set up for all weather conditions.
Wedgetail Therapy started as a riding school in 2005 and has been operating as a therapy centre for almost 15 years.
We offer sessions from Monday to Thursdays during business hours. Other hours by arrangement.
We offer some weekend programs by arrangement.
We recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions.
